Students Celebrate Diversity at University Artifact and Culture Fair

March 25, 2025 – UniMAC

A vibrant celebration of heritage and diversity unfolded on March 25, 2025, as students at the University of Media, Arts and Communication came together for the annual Artifact and Culture Fair. Hosted on campus grounds, the event showcased the rich cultural backgrounds of the student body through an eclectic mix of traditional artifacts, clothing, music, dance, and other varieties.

Organized by the university's Cultural Affairs Committee, the fair drew participation from over 20 cultural student organizations. Each group presented a stall adorned with national flags, historical relics, handmade crafts, and informational displays reflecting their unique heritage.

The event offered attendees a chance to engage with global cultures firsthand. Students and visitors sampled authentic dishes from around the world—from Ghanaian jollof rice to Korean kimchi—and watched live performances that included Indian classical dance, Caribbean drumming, and Eastern European folk songs.

"This fair is a beautiful representation of who we are as a community," said Mr. Rexford Boateng Gyasi, President of the Creative Commintee. "It reminds us that while we may come from different places, we are all connected through our stories and traditions."

Workshops on indigenous art techniques, traditional calligraphy, and regional storytelling also took place throughout the day, allowing participants to dive deeper into the cultural practices represented at the fair.

The event concluded with a multicultural fashion parade, where students proudly modeled traditional attire from their home countries, earning loud applause from a packed audience.

University officials praised the fair as not just a celebration of diversity but also an educational opportunity that fosters respect, curiosity, and unity among the student body.

"This kind of event is vital in nurturing an inclusive environment on campus," said Dr. Miguel Herrera, Dean of Student Life. "It allows students to both share and learn, building bridges of understanding that extend far beyond the classroom."

The Artifact and Culture Fair is expected to become a lasting tradition, growing each year as students continue to celebrate the cultures that make the university a truly global community.
