The Black Stars of Ghana delivered a scintillating performance on Friday night, thrashing Chad 5-0 in an international friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium. The emphatic victory showcased Ghana’s attacking prowess as they overwhelmed their opponents with relentless pressure and clinical finishing.
From the first whistle, Ghana asserted dominance, taking the lead in the 3rd minute through Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyowho calmly slotted home from close range after a precise pass from Mohammed Kudus. The Black Stars continued to press, and their efforts paid off in the 27th minute when Inaki Williams doubled the lead with a well-placed header from a Gideon Mensah cross.
Chad struggled to cope with Ghana’s intensity and conceded again just before halftime when Jordan Ayew scored from the spot making it 3-0 at the break.
Ghana resumed the second half with the same attacking intent. Ligue in defender Mohammed Salisu added a fourth goal in the 56th minute with a delicious corner from fellow Ligue un rival Ernest Nuamah. The Black Stars put the icing on the cake in the 63rd minute when Ernest Nuamah raced past Chad’s defenders and finished brilliantly to make it 5-0.
Coach Otto Addo praised his team’s performance, stating, “The players executed the game plan perfectly. This result gives us confidence as we prepare for upcoming qualifiers.”
But not to forget the man of the moment, the local based goalkeeper Benjamin Adare 32, who made his blackstar debut with a resounding performance and a cleansheet.
The resounding victory serves as a morale booster for the Black Stars as they gear up for future competitions. Meanwhile, Chad will have to regroup and work on their defensive frailties before their next fixture.
Ghana’s next challenge will be a crucial worldcup qualifier, where they hope to maintain their winning momentum against Madagascar.
